About the exhibition
Exhibition programmed at Pièce Unique gallery, Beirut.
As part of Crea Numerica, a program of talks, performances and exhibitions in several venues in downtown Beirut, the Institut de la Francophonie Numérique of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie presented the exhibition of digital works “Regards croisés sur l’art et les nouvelles technologies” at Pièce Unique Gallery, Saifi Village, Beirut, from September 28 to October 6, 2009. It brought together “Rétro-ingénierie” by Alexandre Castonguay and Mathieu Bouchard, “Digital Visuals from Lebanon” by Ricardo Mbarkho and “L’Oreiller rêveur” by Armella Leung.
“Digital Visuals from Lebanon” (June 2008) is a series of eight digital images printed on photo paper, based on the many agreements signed by the Lebanese State since the independence of Lebanon in 1943. The artist had a computer read the text files of these agreements as if they were image files; the binary code of each text file generated the corresponding image.
